Strain Highlight: Zkittlez

Hey folks! Welcome back to another exciting blog post from your one and only locally owned cannabis retailer, Circa 1818! It’s time for another strain highlight and this week; we’re going to be analyzing a cannabis strain that has remained popular since it’s inception: the candy sweet Zkittlez strain.

Sweet Pairing

Zkittlez is an indica dominant hybrid cannabis strain that was originally crafted by breeding together Grape Ape and Grapefruit strains. This results in it rocking a sweet flavour that harkens to its namesake with a dash of earthiness to balance it out. It’s a big hit with consumers who are looking for a nice relaxing indica that doesn’t have a kush or dank taste to it.

This strain is considered a low THC strain, usually hitting somewhere in the mid to high teens, although you’re very likely to encounter much more potent variants of this sweet treat kicking around in today’s market as a result of the demands for higher and higher potency.

However, it was the original low THC version of this plant that won awards in 2015 for best indica flower in multiple competitions, proving that high THC is not the gauge for cannabis quality that a lot of people think it is. I for one will take a low THC high terpene flower over the alternative almost every time.

Speaking of which, let’s take a look at some of the effects you’re likely to experience when consuming Zkittlez.

Effects

This strain is one that’s ideal for people looking for relief from insomnia and chronic pain but don’t want to end up becoming couch locked for the rest of their day. In it’s original form, zkittlez gives consumers a heady euphoria followed by a gently relaxing come down that can result in some drowsiness, but not a knockout-where you stay is where you lay- type effect.

These features might vary when we get into the higher THC variants and crosses but generally speaking it’s a great strain for those who want to enjoy a tasty indica without losing your ability to remain upright. Which again, doesn’t mean it’s not a great option for sleep aid, just that it’s not designed to K.O. you.

So, next time you’re in the mood for a tasty, euphoric indica that won’t drag you into the couch like an anchor of trichomes and terpenes, spare a thought to Zkittlez, you’ll be glad you did.
