Low to Mid THC Strains

Hey folks! Welcome back to yet another exciting blog post from Cobourg’s one and only locally owned cannabis retailer. We spend a lot of time on here and in store talking about high potency and what strains are best suited to help you get so high that you have deep conversations with a pair of sponge bob toe socks you found under the bed. What we don’t spend nearly enough time talking about are those strains that are designed for the consumers who don’t want to smoke themselves into a paradigm shift every time they partake.

So that’s why this week we’re going to be looking at the best of the middle of the pack: the strains that are built for you to dip a toe into the surreal without plunging in wholesale.

I wanna be elevated, not high.

To clarify, we’re not going to be talking about THC free strains that heavily feature CBD, CBG or other minor cannabinoids in lieu of psychedelic effects. No, we’re going to be talking this week about a middle ground that has by and large been overshadowed by that high THC craze that has pervaded and shaped our cannabis market.

First up, one of my favorite brands: Simply Bare. They have a strain called Harlequin which is, in my humble opinion, frickan stellar. If you want to appreciate the therapeutic, creative, focusing potential of cannabis then this is the strain to try. Simply Bare engages in an entirely organic grow for their flower, meaning that it’s just about the cleanest, smoothest smoking weed around. Check it out!

Next on this list is a mid-THC baller called Banana Baby by Bud Lafleur. If you like Granddaddy Purple but don’t want to turn into Snoop Dogg after a few hits, check this strain out. It regularly clocks in somewhere in the 15-18 percent range, making it a rarity in a sea of high-octane joints (seriously, some infused joints are making claims of THC levels topping 60% which is nutter-butters). It’s genetic dynasty lies in the aforementioned Granddaddy Purple, with it being a low THC variant of Bud LaFleur’s other strain: Banana Daddy. So, next time you see this baby, give it a try.

And that brings us to last low-THC hero we’re going to be talking about today: Mango Haze by Colour Cannabis. Disclaimer: I have talked up this strain basically since we here at Circa 1818 first opened the doors, and with good reason. I like to call this strain “smoke up and clean your house weed”. Mango Haze is a light THC/CBD balanced strain that showcases the benefits of not constantly trying to pump up numbers. This is the perfect strain for someone who wants to alleviate the everyday stresses and anxieties of life without taking away their functionality. It’s weed for the responsible stoner.

That just about wraps up our little dive into some of the low-mid THC strains you’re likely to find in our happy little corner of the cannabis world. Next time you’re in the mood for something different, try them out, you’ll be glad you did!
