Strain Highlight: Biscotti

Hey folks! Welcome back to another pulse pounding adventure into the wide world of cannabis courtesy of Cobourg’s one and only locally owned cannabis retailer. We’ve spent the last few weeks looking at some of the different side effects cannabis is known to produce in humans (the munchies, red eyes etc.) and why they happen. This week though, we’re going to be diving back into our strain highlights in order to take a gander at a quality bit of green that makes seasoned stoners drool: Biscotti. So, let’s learn a bit about what makes this strain such a crowd pleaser!

Origins

There are at least a couple of varieties of Biscotti out there in the wild these days. The most common genetic lineage is reputed to come from Cookie Farms, producer of the famous Girl Scout Cookies strain and is a combination of a Gelato plant crossed with a strain called South Florida. However, there are reportedly other variants of this strain on the market that are a combo of Motorbreath and a Gelato variant. Ultimately, the end result is more or less the same: a gassy, creamy flavour experience that leads to a heady, sedative high that will have you chillin’ like a villain. Yes I’m painfully aware how lame my colloquialism’s are.

Effects

Biscotti is an indica dominant hybrid that leans into the best features of the indica plant variety. One can expect a sedative body high that is perfect for someone looking for relief from chronic pain, a good nights sleep or just a trip to the moon. It’s also been touted by people who suffer from depression as being one of the best “smoke up and feel better” strains out on the market today.  As I mentioned, the taste is something that you can come to expect for a strain that’s named after a sweet confection. Look forward to a sugary, cookies and cream like flavour with a hint of gassy diesel on the exhale, its flavour embodies some of the best aspects of modern and legacy cannabis strains.

Great Genes

Biscotti has become a popular strain whose genetic marker you’re going to be able to find all over the regulated cannabis market, with it showing up as a parent to some of the absolute best strains around. Heck, I was originally going to write this post about a different strain entirely called Permanent Marker (which I’ll probably include in our next strain highlight!), when I realized it had Biscotti as one of it’s genetic progenitors I pivoted to it instead. Biscotti is an absolute banger and if you haven’t experienced it yet, I highly recommend seeking it out and giving it a spin.
